70 Factories Set to Open in Batman City

Investors are finally showing interest in the Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ) in Batman, Turkey, after years of struggle due to terrorist incidents in the region. The OIZ, established in 1992 on a thousand-decare area, faced challenges attracting investors until recently when a sense of peace and trust was established in the area.
The OIZ has seen gradual growth over the years, expanding twice before the implementation of the 4th stage expansion project in 2018. This project aims to add 70 new parcels to the OIZ, with construction works set to be completed by the end of 2024. The goal is to increase employment to 20 thousand with the establishment of 70 new factories in the 4th stage.
When the OIZ was first established, there were only a few investors willing to take the risk. However, as investments increased, the OIZ expanded three times, leading to the current 4th stage development. With the completion of this stage, the number of actively operating factories in the OIZ will reach 200, providing employment opportunities for thousands of people.
Deputy Chairman Vecdin Nasıroğlu highlighted the transformation in investor interest in Batman, noting that in the past, people were hesitant to invest due to security concerns. However, with the region now deemed safe, many are looking to invest in their hometown and contribute to its growth.
Furthermore, plans are underway for a second OIZ in Batman, with nearly 500 investor applications already received. This new OIZ, focusing on the food sector initially, aims to diversify the industries present in the region and further boost economic development. Additionally, there are discussions about establishing a logistics area and building a railway to enhance connectivity and efficiency in the industrial zone.
Overall, the progress in the Batman OIZ is a testament to the positive changes taking place in the region, attracting investors and creating new opportunities for economic growth and development.
