74 detained in illegal betting operation across 5 provinces focusing on Kayseri and Diyarbakır

Dozens of suspects have been arrested in Turkey following a series of operations targeting illegal betting and organized crime. The Minister of Interior, Ali Yerlikaya, announced that the “Siberağ-6” operations were carried out by Provincial Police Departments in Kayseri and Diyarbakır, as well as in Antalya, Kırklareli, and Yozgat.

The Kayseri Provincial Police Department’s Cyber Crimes Department led the operation, resulting in the arrest of 58 suspects, with B.İ. identified as the ringleader. The suspects were found to have used other people’s bank accounts for illegal betting activities on 8 different websites, amounting to a staggering 3 billion 177 million 207 thousand Turkish liras. The proceeds of the crime were then laundered through cold wallets and transferred abroad.

Meanwhile, the Diyarbakır Provincial Police Department’s Cyber Crimes Unit arrested 16 suspects involved in illegal betting on 2 different sites.

In total, 74 suspects have been apprehended, and authorities have seized a car, significant amounts of foreign currency, and numerous digital materials as part of the operations.

The crackdown on illegal betting and organized crime continues in Turkey, as law enforcement agencies work tirelessly to combat these criminal activities.
