78 Dead in Kartalkaya Hotel Tragedy: Owner’s Wife and Daughters Arrested
The tragic fire incident at Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center has led to the loss of 78 lives, including the wife and two daughters of Grand Kartal Hotel owner Halit Ergül. Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the fire.
Following an investigation by the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, nine individuals, including the Special Provincial Administration license and supervisory manager Yeliz Erdogan, have been taken into custody. Among those detained are Halit Ergül’s wife, Emine Murtezaoğlu Ergül, and their daughters Elif Aras and Ceyda Hacıbekiroğlu.
The suspects, including the hotel architect, civil engineer, occupational health and safety specialists, and electrical technician, have been referred to court after being questioned by the gendarmerie. Some of the suspects have been released, while others remain in custody.
The number of detainees in connection with the fire has now risen to 28 individuals. The investigation into the tragic incident at the Grand Kartal Hotel continues, with authorities working to uncover the cause of the fire and hold those responsible accountable.
