63 Suspects Arrested in Nationwide Crime Organization Operation

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced on social media that in the past two weeks, the gendarmerie conducted operations in seven provinces across Turkey, targeting individuals involved in a criminal organization.

A total of 63 suspects were arrested in the operations, with 48 of them being placed under arrest and 11 receiving judicial control decisions. Yerlikaya noted that efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects were ongoing.

The operations, coordinated by the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Gendarmerie General Command, were carried out in Istanbul, Diyarbakir, Antalya, Izmir, Balikesir, Tekirdag, and Gaziantep. The aim of the operations was to dismantle a criminal organization involved in offenses such as drug trafficking, smuggling, fraud, armed threat, bribery, and other crimes against public safety.

During the raids, law enforcement officials seized 9 unlicensed pistols, 392 kilograms of cannabis, various drugs and drug paraphernalia, 28 million pounds in checks and deeds, multiple mobile phones, documents, cutting tools, and piercing tools.

Yerlikaya commended the gendarmerie teams for their successful operations and emphasized the government’s commitment to combating organized crime and ensuring public safety. The investigation into the criminal organization is ongoing, with authorities working to bring all perpetrators to justice.
