Boat Capsizes in Ilısu Dam Basin, Siirt but No Fatalities Reported

A group of 8 people on a boat visited the Ilısu Dam basin in the Botan Valley National Park, located about 13 kilometers away from the city center of Siirt. The opening ceremony was also attended by Prof. Dr. Veysel Eroğlu. However, the boat capsized for unknown reasons, resulting in all 8 people falling into the water.

Boat operators and bystanders in the vicinity witnessed the accident and rushed to help. Emergency services such as AFAD, UMKE, health and gendarmerie teams were immediately contacted. The emergency teams arrived promptly, and all 8 people were quickly rescued and taken to Siirt Training and Research Hospital via ambulance.

Thankfully, all 8 people who fell into the water have been reported in good health. Cahit Aydın, the Provincial Director of AFAD, informed the media that the incident was reported to the emergency number, 112. He confirmed that the rescue team arrived swiftly and there were no injuries or casualties reported.

Aydın explained that the group was using a boat-style watercraft to cross the basin, and due to unknown reasons, the boat capsized. The people were rescued by nearby boats and the citizens present, so there was no need for extensive medical help.

This incident highlights the importance of taking safety measures when traveling on watercraft and the need for emergency services to act swiftly during times of crisis. Fortunately, no fatal injuries were reported, and this accident serves as a reminder to be cautious whenever near water.
