Coast Guard Detains Dozens of Irregular Immigrants off the Coast of Turkey
The Turkish Coast Guard has successfully intercepted two rubber boats carrying a total of 80 irregular immigrants attempting to reach European shores. The operation took place off the coast of Çeşme and Foça, according to information released by the Coast Guard Command.
Using their advanced Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), the Coast Guard identified and intercepted 41 irregular immigrants in one rubber boat off the coast of Çeşme. Additionally, another 39 irregular immigrants were detected in a separate rubber boat off the coast of Foça.
Responding to a tip about irregular immigrants stranded on a life raft off the coast of Çeşme, Coast Guard teams swiftly moved to the location and successfully rescued 20 individuals. Greek elements had reportedly pushed them into Turkish territorial waters.
Following the necessary procedures, all irregular immigrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further processing.
The Turkish Coast Guard remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of its coastal regions and preventing illegal immigration attempts. Cooperation with neighboring countries and continuous surveillance efforts are vital in reducing irregular migration and protecting lives at sea.
Authorities continue their efforts to tackle the challenges posed by irregular migration, while also emphasizing the importance of raising awareness about the risks associated with such journeys.
