845 Terrorists Eliminated in 4 Months
The Ministry of National Defense recently held an information meeting to discuss the ongoing fight against terrorism. During the meeting, it was revealed that the Turkish Armed Forces have been carrying out determined operations to destroy terrorism at its source. In the past week alone, 43 terrorists have been neutralized, bringing the total number of terrorists neutralized since January 1 to 845, with 376 in Iraq and 469 in Syria.
Additionally, border security measures have been successful in preventing illegal crossings, with 364 suspects caught attempting to cross illegally in the last week. A total of 3,133 people have been apprehended for illegal border crossings since the beginning of the year, while 50,860 individuals have been stopped before crossing the border.
In terms of international cooperation and training exercises, the Ministry of National Defense highlighted various activities such as LOCKED SHIELDS-24 exercises in Estonia, NEPTUNE STRIKE 24.1 in Albania, and the ongoing EFES-2024 exercises. The ministry also announced upcoming events like the TCG NUSRET Museum Ship’s port visits and the TCG KINALIADA corvette’s journey to Bangladesh and Japan.
Furthermore, successful tests of the Submarine Rescue Bell, as well as the completion of inspection and acceptance activities for defense industry products like the “NEFER” Turreted Armored Combat Vehicle and DROPS vehicles, demonstrate the strengthening of Turkey’s defense capabilities.
