88 Families in Bingöl Find Shelter with On-Site Transformation

The Governorship of Bingöl is taking proactive measures to protect its citizens against potential disasters, particularly earthquakes, in the province. Following the recent earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023, the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change conducted a damage assessment study in Bingöl.

As part of the On-Site Transformation Project, grants and interest-free loans were offered to residents whose homes were deemed unsafe in the event of an earthquake. A total of 1728 building applications were accepted, with licenses obtained for 433 structures. Construction has already begun on many of these homes, with 88 single or two-story houses already completed and delivered to beneficiaries in rural areas.

Governor Ahmet Hamdi Usta, along with Provincial Director İsa Gülgür, visited the village of Çeltiksuyu to inspect the finished houses and meet with grateful citizens. Governor Usta emphasized the importance of the on-site transformation project in providing safe housing for residents in earthquake-prone areas.

Residents like Esra Gerboğa and Mehmet Güçın expressed their satisfaction with their new homes, highlighting the quality construction and safety features. Thanks to the support of the Special Provincial Administration and the dedicated work of the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change teams, more residents are expected to benefit from the on-site transformation project in the coming months.
