Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç Provides Updates on Forest Fire Investigations
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç recently released a statement on his social media account regarding the ongoing investigations into the forest fires that ravaged several provinces in Turkey. The fires, which occurred between August 12-17, affected regions in Aydın, Muğla, İzmir, Manisa, Tunceli, Bolu, and Uşak.
Tunç highlighted the meticulous and comprehensive nature of the investigations conducted by the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. He shared that a total of 22 suspects have been detained in connection to the forest fires. Of these suspects, 9 have been arrested, 5 have been placed under judicial control, and 1 has been released after providing a statement. The detention procedures for 7 suspects are still ongoing.
The Minister emphasized the importance of protecting the forests, which are vital sources of life. He expressed his well wishes for the speedy recovery of citizens affected by the fires and extended his support to the teams working tirelessly to safeguard the country’s green homeland.
