
$900 Million in Contracts Signed at Kazakh-Tajik Investment Forum

The Kazakh-Tajik Investment Forum, which took place in Dushanbe on Aug. 21, paved the way for enhanced economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. The event, held just before President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to Tajikistan, resulted in the signing of multiple commercial agreements and contracts totaling approximately $900 million.
According to reports from the Prime Minister’s press service, the two countries have set a target to increase their trade turnover to $2 billion in the near future. First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar highlighted the vast opportunities for joint projects across various sectors, underscoring the forum’s role in strengthening bilateral trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
Joint efforts between the governments are focused on expanding the range of goods traded, deepening industrial partnerships, and boosting agricultural trade between the two nations. Tajik First Deputy Prime Minister Hokim Kholiqzoda emphasized Kazakhstan’s strategic importance as a key partner in the region, noting its significant contribution to Tajikistan’s foreign trade.
The forum also highlighted the collaborative efforts in the metallurgical and agricultural sectors, aiming to enhance production, processing, and export capabilities of agricultural products. Furthermore, fruitful partnerships in the transport and IT industries were emphasized, with Kazakhstan providing favorable conditions for transit transportation development.
During the forum, Kazakh delegates engaged in bilateral discussions with Tajik company leaders to explore potential joint projects, including the establishment of production facilities for high-value goods. The event served as a platform to solidify existing partnerships and explore new avenues for economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
