91 Drug Dealers Arrested in Anti-Drug Operation Across 26 Provinces
Police Operations Lead to Arrests in 26 Provinces Across Turkey
Turkish Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced on social media that a series of operations were conducted in 26 provinces across Turkey. The provinces included in the operations were Diyarbakır, Edirne, Elazığ, Manisa, Aksaray, Adana, Balıkesir, Bitlis, Batman, Bingöl, Malatya, Ağrı, Kırklareli, Aydın, Yalova, Afyonkarahisar, Antalya, Erzurum, Karaman, Sakarya, Rize, Kırıkkale, Muğla, İzmir, Siirt, and Ankara. The operations involved 253 teams and 996 personnel, all under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command KOM Department.
Out of the 91 suspects detained during the operations, 55 have been arrested while judicial control decisions were made for 9 others. The procedures for the remaining suspects are currently ongoing.
During the searches, law enforcement officers managed to seize 1 ton 47 kilograms of drugs, 8 million 249 thousand roots of Indian cannabis and skunk roots, and 21 thousand drug pills.
Minister Yerlikaya emphasized his determination to rid the country of drug dealers, stating, “I want our nation to know that we are resolute in our mission to eliminate drug dealers and their street operations. I extend my congratulations to the brave gendarmerie who conducted these operations.”
