Provincial Gendarmerie Targets Animal Smuggling in Operation
In a concerted effort to combat smuggling and protect wildlife, teams from the Provincial Gendarmerie Command launched a significant operation targeting illegal animal trafficking.
The operation focused on the residence of a suspect identified as O.K., leading to the discovery and seizure of numerous exotic animals kept unlawfully.
Impressive Rescue of Exotic Birds
According to reports, authorities confiscated a total of 98 animals, including a variety of birds and a few unique species. The list of seized wildlife included:
- 5 Black Swans
- 7 Mandarin Ducks
- 4 Suna Ducks
- 7 Carolina Ducks
- 3 White Mandarin Ducks
- 31 Dwarf Beijing Ducks
- 6 Silver Pheasants
- 3 Chicks
- 2 Red Altuni Pheasants
- 2 King Pheasants
- 14 Blue Peacocks
- 12 White Peacocks
- 2 Emus
This operation underscores the ongoing commitment of local authorities to safeguard animal rights and natural habitats. The suspect, O.K., is currently facing judicial proceedings as the investigation unfolds.
The rescued animals have been handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, where they will be cared for and rehabilitated.
