A Taste of the Aegean: Turkish Cuisine Week at BRT – BRTK
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism, under the leadership of Emine Erdoğan, wife of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has declared the week of 21-27 May as ‘Turkish Cuisine Week’. This declaration is based on the book “Turkish Cuisine with Centuries-Old Recipes” and aims to promote the rich gastronomy culture of Turkish Cuisine.
Turkish Cuisine has a long history dating back to 2022 and is celebrated every year with events organized during ‘Turkish Cuisine Week’ in Turkey and in foreign countries with the support of Turkish representative offices. This year, the focus was on Aegean Cuisine and flavors, showcasing the rich history, culture, and natural resources of the Aegean region.
As part of Turkish Cuisine Week, a special program was broadcast on Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation (BRTK). Renowned Chef Selim Yeşilpınar demonstrated how to prepare popular Turkish dishes such as vegetable moussaka and hash browns, sharing these recipes with the audience. The program also highlighted the book “Turkish Cuisine with Centennial Recipes”, which was prepared and published under the guidance of Emine Erdoğan.
Turkish Cuisine Week provides a platform to celebrate and promote the diverse flavors and culinary traditions of Turkey, showcasing the country’s rich heritage and cultural identity through its food. Through events like these, Turkish Cuisine continues to attract international attention and appreciation.
