ActionAid: Insufficient Aid for Gaza from Israel

ActionAid UK has highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, where Israel’s attacks continue to devastate the region. The organization stated that the amount of aid entering Gaza is alarmingly low, exacerbating the already critical situation.

According to United Nations data, even before the recent Israeli attacks began, Gaza required at least 500 aid trucks daily to meet basic humanitarian needs. However, Israel had only allowed 710 humanitarian aid trucks to enter in July, further straining the already overwhelmed aid delivery system.

Currently, there are approximately 1,500 humanitarian aid trucks held in Egypt, belonging to the UN and various non-governmental organizations. Amjad Al Shawa, Director of the Palestinian NGOs Network (PNGO), emphasized the urgent need for all forms of humanitarian aid in Gaza, where 100 percent of the population is in need of assistance.

Riham Jafari, ActionAid Palestine Communications Coordinator, praised the dedication of staff and partners in Gaza who are working tirelessly to deliver vital aid, despite facing immense challenges and risks to their safety. The situation in Gaza is described as the worst it has ever been, with the population relying heavily on humanitarian assistance for their survival.
