ACWA Power Kazakhstan Becomes 3,000th Company Registered at AIFC

Astana International Financial Centre Registers Saudi-listed ACWA Power Kazakhstan as 3,000th Company
The Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) recently reached a significant milestone by registering its 3,000th company – ACWA Power Kazakhstan. ACWA Power, a Saudi-listed company, is the world’s largest private water desalination company and a pioneer in energy transition and green hydrogen.
According to the AIFC press service, ACWA Power is currently operating in 13 countries across the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia. The company’s latest venture in Kazakhstan involves the construction of a wind farm with energy storage systems in the Zhetisu Region. This project, with a total capacity of one gigawatt (GW), aims to leverage the country’s abundant wind resources to increase the proportion of renewable energy sources and support efforts towards carbon neutrality.
One of the key objectives of the AIFC is to promote sustainable development goals, including transitioning to a low-carbon economy, attracting green investments, and creating a supportive financial ecosystem. AIFC Governor Renat Bekturov highlighted the center’s unique legal framework, favorable tax conditions, and range of business support services as factors contributing to the growth in the number of participants.
Since its establishment, AIFC has attracted companies from various sectors, including finance, technology, and energy, fostering innovation and economic development in Kazakhstan and the region. In September 2021, the center registered its 1,000th company, and by July 2023, it had doubled in size, reaching the 2,000th registered firm milestone.
Furthermore, AIFC has exceeded expectations by attracting over $12 billion in investments, surpassing the target set for 2025. This achievement underscores the center’s role as a hub for business growth, investment, and sustainable development in Kazakhstan and beyond.
