Minister of Labor and Social Security Sadık Gardiyanoğlu recently met with representatives of the Health Associations Platform to discuss the challenges faced by patients in accessing medications. During the meeting, Gardiyanoğlu listened to the concerns of various health associations and emphasized the ministry’s commitment to finding solutions.

Among the associations present at the meeting were the Turkish Cypriot Orthopedically Disabled People Association, Thalassaemia Association, Turkish Cypriot MS Association, Dialysis and Kidney Patients Association, Cyprus Hearing and Speech Impaired Foundation, Kemal Saraçoğlu Foundation for Children with Leukemia and Fight Against Cancer, Alzheimer’s Patients Association, and Universal Patient Rights Association.

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security Tahir Serhat, along with other department directors, also participated in the meeting to discuss the common challenges faced by patients and potential solutions.

Platform Spokesperson Servet Özeralp expressed the collective concerns and expectations of the non-governmental organizations within the platform, particularly highlighting the need for expedited bureaucratic procedures for elderly patients accessing medications.

Minister Gardiyanoğlu stressed the importance of collaboration among non-governmental organizations in addressing healthcare challenges. He mentioned that the ministry has been working diligently for the past 7 months to improve access to medications for citizens and has considered recommendations from medical and pharmaceutical associations.

Furthermore, Gardiyanoğlu emphasized the ministry’s efforts to streamline prescription processes, expand the pool of doctors authorized to write insurance prescriptions, and implement online prescription tracking through the Ministry of Health’s system.
