AFAD issues yellow and orange rain alerts in Turkey
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) in Turkey has issued rain alerts for several provinces in the country. According to the latest information and evaluations from the General Directorate of Meteorology, a “yellow” rain warning has been issued for 14 provinces today. Additionally, an “orange” rain warning has been given for the provinces of Antalya, Aydın, Izmir, and Muğla.
The orange alert for the four provinces is set to end tomorrow at 21.00 local time. AFAD has informed citizens in these provinces via SMS and has urged them to exercise caution. Notifications have also been made through various channels such as village headmen, mosques, municipality loudspeakers, police, and gendarmerie vehicles. The public has been advised to stay away from river banks to prevent potential risks.
AFAD has mobilized a total of 5,376 personnel, 2,886 vehicles, and 676 motor pumps and submersible pumps in the provinces under the orange alert. In case of emergencies, these teams will be ready to respond swiftly. So far, there have been 400 flood-water operations reported in several provinces, including Aydın, Izmir, Kırklareli, Isparta, Denizli, Muğla, and Antalya.
Citizens are strongly urged to be vigilant against possible impacts such as flash floods, lightning, landslides, local hail, sudden strong winds, short-term storms, and transportation disruptions. AFAD continues to monitor the situation closely and provides updates and guidance to the public as needed.
