In a recent statement, President Erdogan addressed an issue that directly affects couples preparing to get married in the near future. He emphasized that the marriage loan project is being closely monitored by the government and expressed their determination to implement it. This announcement came after a cabinet meeting where the topic of marriage loans was discussed.
One of the main questions on people’s minds is whether the application for the 150 thousand TL interest-free marriage loan has started. Currently, the loan application process has not yet begun. The government is finalizing the project details, and once everything is clarified, applicants will be able to apply through banks. It is anticipated that applications will open in the coming days once all the project’s specifics are announced.
Minister of Family and Social Services, Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas, provided further information on the conditions and requirements for the marriage loan. She confirmed that all preparations have been completed, and the legislation has been sent to parliament for approval. The ministry expects the project to be implemented before the new year, initially as a pilot project for the earthquake zone and later expanded.
Regarding eligibility criteria, Goktas mentioned that young people between the ages of 18-27 will be able to benefit from the marriage loan, but these age limits will be further discussed in parliament. Applicants must also meet certain income criteria and should not have a criminal record. Additionally, living in an earthquake zone will be taken into consideration.
Furthermore, couples interested in the marriage loan should also participate in the Family Education Program and Premarital Education Program. Those who meet these requirements will be eligible for the loan, which will have a grace period of 2 years and zero interest. However, the government will need to issue regulations to determine the exact terms and conditions.
In addition to the marriage loan project, it was announced that the Family and Youth Bank will be launched before the new year. This bank aims to provide support and financial services to young people and families in need.
As the government moves forward with these initiatives, it is clear that they are committed to supporting young couples and providing them with the necessary resources for a successful start to their married lives.
