Heavy snowfall in Ağrı leads to suspension of education in some districts
Following a heavy snowfall in the districts of Doğubayazıt, Diyadin and Taşlıçay in Ağrı, several educational activities have been suspended.
The Diyadin District Governorship announced the suspension of educational activities for one day for students in the field of transportation and in schools located in Hacıhalit, Mutlu, Sürmekoç, Taşkesen and Yukarı Dalören villages on Monday, December 18, 2023. This decision was made due to the snowfall and icing that started in the evening and continued throughout the night.
Similarly, the Taşlıçay District Governorate also declared the suspension of bussed education and education in village schools for the same day due to the severe weather conditions.
The Doğubayazıt District Directorate of National Education also announced that a holiday was declared on December 18, 2023, for village schools and students in transportation education. This was a result of village roads being closed due to heavy snowfall and blizzards.
