Agriculture Ministry and TIKA Distribute 268 Small Cattle for Livestock Expansion Program

The Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, in partnership with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), recently distributed 286 sheep as part of the “Small Livestock Expansion Program”. This initiative aims to support rural development in the region and address the growing demand for sheep milk, particularly in light of halloumi registration requirements.
In a statement, the Ministry highlighted the importance of expanding small livestock breeding and emphasized the role of such programs in empowering local communities. The distribution included 20 sheep and 2 rams each to 12 eligible beneficiaries, as well as 20 goats and 2 billy goats to another beneficiary.
A special commission carefully reviewed applications to ensure that only qualified individuals received animals from State Breeding Farms. Ultimately, a total of 13 beneficiaries were selected through a thorough evaluation process.
The distribution event was conducted with transparency, as animals were grouped and distributed through a draw in the presence of a notary. This not only ensures fairness in the allocation of resources but also promotes accountability in the implementation of such programs.
The “Expansion of Small Livestock Breeding” program represents a meaningful collaboration between government agencies and international partners, working together to enhance agricultural practices and support local livelihoods.
