Ahmet Javad: The Poet Who Lived and Died for His Beliefs
Ahmet Javad, a prominent poet and intellectual, was born on May 5, 1892, in the Seyfeli village of Shamkir region in Azerbaijan. From a young age, he showed a talent for poetry and literature, learning Arabic, Persian, and Russian in the madrasah in Ganja. Despite facing challenges early in life, including the loss of his father at a young age, Javad pursued his passion for writing and literature.
During the Balkan War, he joined the Ottoman army and fought bravely alongside his comrades. His poetry during this time reflected his patriotism and commitment to his homeland. Javad’s poems inspired hope and resilience among the Turkish world in those dark days.
After the war, Javad continued to dedicate his writing to the Ottoman Turks, the homeland, and the army. His work gained recognition and praise from influential figures like Ziya Gökalp.
