
Aiming for Gold: Our Path to the Podium

Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak has expressed his excitement about the increasing international success of Turkish athletes in a recent speech at an iftar program attended by sports club representatives, national athletes, volunteer youth, and university students at Kestel Sports Hall.
Bak highlighted the sports revolution taking place in Turkey under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, emphasizing the country’s progress towards becoming a sports powerhouse with the construction of new sports facilities.
Looking ahead to the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games, Bak expressed optimism about Turkey’s prospects, stating, “Hopefully, Turkey will raise the crescent-star flag there and make the whole world listen to the National Anthem. Our work continues at this point. We will be there with approximately 100 athletes. Our goal is gold medals and a place on the podium.”
Referring to the young generation, Bak encouraged them to strive for excellence in sports and become champions who will bring pride to the country. He also emphasized the importance of providing sports facilities for young people to combat addiction, drugs, and unhealthy habits.
The Minister further praised the AK Party Kestel Mayor candidate Ferhat Erol and promised to bring additional projects to the district to support the development of sports.
AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala echoed Bak’s sentiments and reassured the youth of their commitment to supporting their athletic endeavors, promising more opportunities for success in the future.
Bursa Governor Mahmut Demirtaş also expressed his delight at sharing an iftar meal with the athletes, underlining the importance of sports in promoting unity and healthy lifestyles.
In conclusion, Minister Bak reiterated his confidence in the youth of Turkey, stating, “The Century of Turkey is the century of young people. The Century of Turkey is the century of sports. Together, we will raise the flag and show the world our strength through champions representing our nation.”
