Air Traffic Controllers Union to Strike in Ercan on Monday – BRTK
The Air Traffic Controllers Union has announced their support for a day-long strike to be held on Monday, May 27 at Ercan Airport Traffic. In a statement issued by the union, the government was criticized for its policies that have had negative impacts on the people, employees, producers, tradesmen, and institutions.
The union highlighted issues such as the increase in electricity prices every two months, questionable contracts with AKSA leading to dysfunctionality in the Electricity Authority, and the lack of tenders for fuel purchases. They also raised concerns about the T&T company not fulfilling contractual obligations at Ercan Airport, leading to financial exemptions and a disregard for aviation standards.
Livestock farmers and producers are facing extinction due to high input costs, while businesses like Koop Süt are on the brink of bankruptcy. The minimum wage is below the hunger line, and the cost of living continues to rise, with the government failing to adequately support employees.
Citrus fruit remains unsold on trees for two years, resulting in losses for producers. The state’s education and health services are deemed ineffective, leading to a divide between those who can afford private services and those who cannot.
The HTSK statement expressed frustration with the government’s policies and called for a change in leadership. The union announced plans to hold a day-long strike at Ercan Hava Traffic and gather in front of the Prime Ministry on Monday, May 27 to show support for the social action.
Overall, the union is demanding a government that prioritizes the well-being of its people and addresses the pressing issues facing the country.
