AK Party Spokesperson Çelik accuses group of attempting to manipulate Turkish political processes
AK Party Spokesperson, Ömer Çelik, has accused Western magazines and newspapers of attempting to interfere in Turkey’s political processes once again. The comments made by these publications were targeted at President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, however, Çelik argued that such attempts have proven to be ineffective in the past, and will be similarly dismissed this time as well.
President Erdoğan has always trusted the Turkish people throughout his political career, said Çelik, and this trust has helped him to overcome criticism from various sources. He said that the so-called comments and analyses made by these publications have been rendered worthless due to the President’s commitment to listening to his people.
Çelik also stated that the operation centers responsible for these attempts will “still get the answers they deserve,” indicating that the Turkish government will not be swayed by foreign interference.
Recently, The Economist faced backlash over its cover story that featured a cartoon of President Erdoğan sitting on a throne and dictating to a soldier. The Turkish government dismissed the cover as propaganda and an attempt to undermine their sovereignty, calling for a boycott of the publication.
This latest statement by AK Party Spokesperson Çelik reinforces the government’s stance against foreign influence and the importance of listening to the Turkish people over outside voices.
