Akar vows to prevent unilateral actions in Cyprus and the Aegean
The delegation of the National Defense Commission of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), led by Chairman Hulusi Akar, recently met with the Committee on Law, Political Affairs and Foreign Relations of the Assembly of the Republic. The meeting, led by Akar, emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to achieve economic prosperity.
The delegation spoke about the challenges and the need for collective effort. Akar stressed the importance of security and prosperity for both Turkey and TRNC and highlighted the need to work together with determination.
Addressing the geopolitical importance of Cyprus, Akar mentioned Turkey’s capacity to ensure security in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean. He also underlined the Turkish Cypriot People’s long-standing wait for a resolution and the embargoes faced by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Yasemin Öztürk, Chair of the Law, Political Affairs and Foreign Relations Committee of the Assembly of the Republic, echoed the sentiment of unity and the need for a single voice on the Cyprus issue. Öztürk also discussed the challenges faced by the Turkish Cypriot people and the importance of cooperation with the Republic of Turkey.
The meeting concluded with the exchange of gifts, symbolizing the continued cooperation and partnership between the two parties.
