AKP Spokesperson Çelik Reacts to TİP Chairman Baş
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Ömer Çelik, has recently made a statement on his social media account, reacting to the words of TİP Chairman Erkan Baş towards President Erdoğan.
Çelik expressed his disapproval of Baş’s remarks, claiming that they resemble the language used by fascists in Europe against President Erdoğan. He criticized Baş for adopting tactics used by European fascists and accused him of lacking political integrity.
The Minister emphasized that targeting the Presidency, an institution that has been elected through democratic processes multiple times with the support of the national will, in a fascist manner is a clear display of animosity towards democracy and the people. He likened Baş’s statements to the tactics used by European fascists who label their parties as “populist” while undermining democratic principles.
In response to these comments, Çelik reiterated that they will treat such statements with the same level of disdain as they do towards European fascists. The Minister’s remarks reflect the Turkish government’s strong stance against any form of disrespect towards the country’s democratic institutions and leaders.
