AKSA Team and El-Sen Members Ignite Action at Teknecik Power Plant.

Power cuts continue in North Cyprus as the country struggles to produce enough electricity to meet its needs. At the request of Kıb-Tek management, a team from AKSA was sent to Teknecik Power Plant, which had been experiencing malfunctions and was unable to produce enough power. The Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority Employees’ Union (El-Sen), which has been protesting against the change in Public Procurement Law for the past two weeks, held a gathering and lit a fire in protest at the power plant. El-Sen President Çağlayan Cesurer claimed that Kıb-Tek Board of Directors and General Manager were responsible for the power outages, and called for the withdrawal of the Public Procurement (Amendment) Law. Kıb-Tek General Manager Dalman Aydın announced that AKSA teams had entered the Teknecik Power Plant to fix the malfunction and get the generators that required maintenance into operation. He also stated that their aim was to activate three diesel generators in the short term to meet the country’s energy needs. Extensive security measures were put in place at the power plant.
