Ali İhsan Yavuz Comments on Ballot Box Results

AK Party Deputy Chairman Ali İhsan Yavuz has announced that Turkey has successfully passed an important stage in its democratic process. Speaking to journalists outside the AK Party Headquarters, Yavuz stressed that the national will is reflected in the ballot box and that there are no issues regarding election security. He explained that all parties have observers at the ballot box, ballot box committee members and individuals authorized to object. There are also representatives of all parties in the district election boards.
Yavuz believed that it is unnecessary to blame institutions during this critical time and said that precautions have been taken at the ballot box for months. He assured that the SAS system, which provides information received from the ballot box, is working well, and that all wet signatures from the ballot boxes will be binding for everyone.
Currently, the AK Party is making objections, which means that their leading ballot boxes are not being reflected, therefore the party seems to be ahead. However, Yavuz stated that these objections will not take a long time and that they do not have many objections.
Until 15:00 on Tuesday, each party can object to what is happening at the ballot box, valid or invalid votes, and other issues. Yavuz said that they are examining the whole of Turkey and preparing to raise objections by the deadline.
When asked about the current situation, Yavuz said that there is a clear superiority of the People’s Alliance in the parliamentary picture and that they are well ahead in the Presidential election. He hopes that other issues will be revealed soon when the picture becomes clearer. Yavuz’s final words were that they wish for auspicious results for Turkey and the AK Party.
