
Aliyev’s Victory in Azerbaijan: President Erdoğan Offers Congratulations

Ilham Aliyev wins presidential election in Azerbaijan with 92.1 percent of the vote
The preliminary results of the presidential election in Azerbaijan are in, and Ilham Aliyev has emerged as the clear winner, securing a staggering 92.1 percent of the votes. CNN Turk Special News Chief Fulya Öztürk reported, “There are celebrations everywhere right now. More than 4.5 million people went to the polls and voted.” Aliyev’s victory is anticipated to solidify his position as the President of Azerbaijan for another term. The president-elect is expected to address the nation in the coming hours.
Following the announcement of his victory, President Aliyev received a congratulatory phone call from President Tayyip Erdoğan, in which President Erdoğan expressed his hope that Aliyev’s re-election as President would be beneficial for Azerbaijan.
Celebrations have already begun in Azerbaijan, with the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) marking their victory with jubilant festivities. Azerbaijanis across the nation are joining in the celebrations, which started in different parts of the city and included a concert held in front of the Haydar Aliyev Cultural Center.
The Central Election Board (CEC) has revealed that the election saw a participation rate of 76.73 percent, with 90,372 observers monitoring the proceedings. The CEC is expected to announce the first unofficial results soon, with the official results to be delivered to the Constitutional Court within 10 days.
International observers, including 790 foreigners from 70 countries and 49 organizations, as well as 216 foreign journalists, watched the election closely. The election featured several candidates, with Aliyev running as the New Azerbaijan Party candidate.
In response to Aliyev’s victory, Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Kurtulmuş congratulated the president and expressed hope that his re-election would be beneficial for the people of Azerbaijan.
The election results represent a significant moment for Azerbaijan and its people, setting the stage for the country’s future as it moves forward under the leadership of President Aliyev.
