The last person to see Gürel, who allegedly faced dismissal without compensation, testified about the difficulties she faced at work. According to her friend Özge A.Ö., Gürel was asked to perform tasks that were not part of her job description, such as cleaning toilets and fetching coffees.
This incident has prompted a response from the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, leading to the publication of a 7-item circular aimed at preventing psychological harassment in the workplace. The Mobbing Circular includes provisions for the establishment of an Anti-Psychological Harassment Board, tasked with addressing issues related to mobbing and raising awareness about the impact of psychological harassment. Additionally, the circular outlines behaviors that constitute mobbing, such as repeated actions that violate fundamental rights and freedoms, and provides avenues for seeking compensation and redress.

Employers and individuals in leadership positions are held responsible for addressing and correcting instances of mobbing in the workplace. Various channels, such as the Presidential Communication Center, the Turkish Grand National Assembly Petition Commission, and the Center for Labor and Social Security Communication (Alo 170), are available for lodging complaints and seeking assistance.
