Alleged Corruption and Terror Operation Uncovered in Istanbul Municipality Management: Prosecutor’s Findings
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Secretary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), and 99 other suspects on charges including being part of a criminal organization, bribery, fraud, and aiding the PKK/KCK terrorist organization. The probe also involves allegations of corruption and the misuse of public funds.
During the investigation, the police detained businessman Adem Soytekin after discovering a vehicle registered under his name with a protection order in Muğla. It was found that Soytekin had brought the vehicle to Istanbul for repairs, but further examination of records revealed inconsistencies in his statement.
Authorities suspect that the vehicle may have been used for illegal activities, including the transportation of money. In response to the situation, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office plans to file a criminal complaint against the relevant public prosecutor for his involvement in the case.
Meanwhile, Denber from the Financial Crimes Branch Directorate dismissed claims that the information in the Masak report was incomplete. The investigation into corruption and terror operations in the IMM is ongoing, with further developments expected in the near future.
