Almaty Launches Green School Project to Promote Environmental Awareness Among Students
Almaty has recently kicked off the Green School environmental project aimed at educating schoolchildren about environmental issues and promoting the separate collection of solid domestic waste. The project, which will run from September 19 to December 10, has been lauded as a significant step towards fostering environmental consciousness among the youth.
One of the key aspects of the Green School project is the implementation of a special rating system that will evaluate participating schools on a monthly basis. Schools will be judged based on their performance in four key criteria: the volume of recyclable materials collected, the quality of waste sorting, the involvement in environmental activities, and the regularity of recycling. Eco-boxes for separate solid domestic waste collection will also be placed in schools to facilitate the waste management process.
In addition to the rating system, the project will also include lectures and master classes on waste sorting for students. These educational initiatives are designed to teach students the importance of proper waste management and to instill a sense of environmental responsibility. By encouraging schools to participate in the project, the initiative aims to promote a culture of sustainability and eco-consciousness throughout the city.
The school ranking will be regularly updated on the project’s website, allowing all participants to track their progress.
