The government of Kazakhstan has announced plans for the opening of a new international air terminal in Alamaty in June 2024. This development comes as part of the continued efforts to upgrade and expand the country’s aviation infrastructure.
During a meeting with the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov, the head of the TAV Airports Holding Company, Serkan Kaptan, provided an update on the progress of the project. The opening of the new international air terminal is expected to lead to an increase in passenger flow, the expansion of flight routes, and the provision of high-quality services to residents and visitors of Alamaty.
Following the launch of the new international terminal, the existing terminal will be used exclusively for domestic flights. The combined annual capacity of both terminals is projected to reach 14 million passengers, with plans to increase cargo traffic through the airport to 100,000 tons.
This development is a significant step towards enhancing the air travel experience for individuals in Alamaty and is expected to contribute to the city’s economic growth and tourism sector.
As the construction of the new international air terminal progresses, anticipation is building for the positive impact it will have on the region’s air transportation capabilities. With its opening set for 2024, the new terminal is poised to play a key role in meeting the growing demand for air travel in Alamaty and further establishing the city as a major aviation hub in the region.
