An Enchanting Festival Awaits Visitors at the House of Music
The House of Music Hungary is set to reopen its 360-degree screening room, the Sound Dome (Hangdóm), and to celebrate this occasion, an audiovisual festival will take place from January 14 to 19. This exciting event will feature a variety of screenings and discussions with filmmakers.
One of the highlights of the festival will be the debut screening of The Mysterious City Park, a film produced in collaboration with Animatiqua. This film provides a captivating look into the history of City Park (Liget) through animated 360-degree adaptations of photographs from the Fortepan collection, narrated by actor Pál Mácsai.
In addition to the new premiere, past screenings and their creators will return for post-screening talks and Q&A sessions with the audience. The festival will also include a screening of Platon Karataev’s Sunset album, which was awarded the Music Hungary Visual Award in 2024.
The festival will pay tribute to composer György Ligeti with a double screening, featuring his renowned composition, Symphonic Poem For 100 Metronomes. The festival will also showcase a variety of films, including Csoma Kaleidoscope based on Tibor Szemző’s works, and Sound Dome – The Intergalactic Gateway, which will delve into the workings of the dome and panoramic projection.
Attendees can look forward to a range of screenings, from art history to animated shorts, family and nature films, and abstract experimental films. The upgraded Sound Dome 360 cinema will host daily screenings, offering a diverse selection of audiovisual experiences.
