Anadolu TCG Departs Istanbul Waters.

Turkey’s largest warship, the TCG Anadolu, has completed its program in Istanbul and left the city to head to its new home in Izmir. The vessel is a domestic and national production of the Turkish Armed Forces and has already welcomed an impressive 140,055 visitors during its Istanbul program. The TCG Anadolu is expected to pass through the Dardanelles today and arrive in Izmir tomorrow.

Sedef Shipyard in Tuzla constructed the TCG Anadolu, which has impressive specifications: a length of 230 meters, a width of 32 meters, and a size of 9,200 square meters. The ship is capable of being used in humanitarian aid and control ship missions, particularly in amphibious operations and air operations. TCG Anadolu can also accommodate 13 tanks, 27 armored amphibious assault vehicles (ZAHA), 6 armored personnel carriers (ZPT), 15 trailers, and 33 miscellaneous vehicles on its heavy and light vehicle decks.

The vessel has 11 decks, a flight platform with 6 stops, a hangar, and a pool where 4 mechanized landing craft can be deployed on the light and heavy decks. Furthermore, the TCG Anadolu can host six helicopters simultaneously, and SİHAs can be deployed on the flight deck. The naval ship is capable of carrying 1,200 military personnel and has a 30-bed hospital and two operating theaters on board.

The TCG Anadolu has a displacement of 27,500 tons and can travel from Turkey to Japan or Australia without having to refuel the ship. The vessel is a fascinating and highly impressive feature of the Turkish Armed Forces, built entirely domestically and nationally for the country’s use in military and humanitarian missions.
