Anastasia Melega Shines Bright – BRTK
The Turkish Cypriot Entrepreneur Women’s Association (GİKAD) has released a strong statement following the tragic death of 24-year-old Moldovan citizen Anastasia Melega in a nightclub. The association is calling on authorities to shed light on the circumstances surrounding her death and take necessary steps to protect women’s rights.
In a press release, Gikad expressed deep condolences for Melega’s passing and emphasized the importance of ensuring that women can work and live in conditions that honor their human dignity. The association has outlined several demands for authorities to address the issue:
– Transparent and comprehensive investigation: Gikad urges for an immediate and thorough investigation into Melega’s death, with the results made public.
– Oversight of nightclubs: There needs to be meticulous inspection of the working conditions and legal status of women employed in nightclubs, with measures taken to prevent cases of human trafficking and coercion.
– Review of commercial regulations: To prevent the abuse of women, current legal regulations must be reviewed and strengthened as needed.
Gikad is calling for action to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future and to ensure the safety and protection of women in Cyprus.
