Angry Mob Targets 62-Year-Old Abuse Suspect’s Home
A shocking incident occurred on September 1st in a 2-story detached house in Mahfesığmaz District of Çukurova district. A young boy, identified as EB, had his ball fall onto the balcony of homeowner MM while playing outside. MM called the boy to retrieve his ball and allegedly sexually abused him, threatening him to keep quiet about it.
EB couldn’t bear the burden of silence any longer and confided in his grandmother and father, OB, on September 8th. Upon learning about the incident, the neighborhood took matters into their own hands and attempted to lynch MM, who was eventually saved by police intervention. MM was taken to the hospital for treatment and subsequently taken into custody upon the complaint of EB’s family. After legal procedures, MM was arrested in court.
In response to the disturbing events, unidentified individuals vandalized MM’s house with stones and spray painted messages such as ‘child molester’, ‘he is only 8 years old’, and ‘justice will be provided’.
Father OB expressed his distress over the situation, mentioning how his children’s mental health has been affected by the incident. He emphasized the importance of MM receiving the punishment he deserves for his actions.
