Animal Producers and Breeders Association Board of Directors Meeting Today

Animal Producers and Breeders Association to Hold Meeting at Union Building

Today, the Board of Directors of the Animal Producers and Breeders Association will gather for a meeting at the Union building at 12.00. Union President Mustafa Naimoğulları announced in a statement to the Turkish Agency Cyprus that the current actions will be assessed during the meeting, followed by a statement to the press.

The union had recently initiated a vehicular protest in Nicosia on May 20, citing concerns over the pricing of raw milk, reduction of input costs, and the decision to import meat. Livestock producers initially protested at the Ministry of Agriculture and later escalated their demonstrations to the Prime Ministry, continuing for a period of 10 days.

Despite efforts to negotiate and reach a consensus, the unions have extended their support to the animal producers by joining in a general strike outside the Prime Ministry. Various political parties and organizations have also expressed solidarity with the cause.

Following discussions with Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, livestock producers have decided to conclude their protest in front of the Prime Ministry and relocate it to the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources starting from May 30. Despite multiple meetings with the Prime Minister, an agreement has yet to be reached on the demands set forth by the producers.

Union President Naimoğulları recently met with the Prime Minister again, but due to the unresolved issues, it has been decided to continue the protest outside the Ministry of Agriculture. Stay tuned for further updates on the ongoing developments and future actions of the Animal Producers and Breeders Association.
