Transportation Aids Announced for Earthquake Victims Returning Home
The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) has announced the details of transportation aids for victims of the recent earthquake who want to return to their cities. According to the announcement made on AFAD’s Twitter account, victims who wish to return with their own vehicles must go to the application points established by the governorship and district governorships to obtain a travel expense document. They can then provide their travel expenses by declaring that they have arrived at the application point in the province they are heading to.
People who want to return from the disaster area can also go to the application centers and get a travel expense document. Upon arrival at the application points in the province they return to, they can receive their travel expenses. Those who will use public transport can apply to the application points and use appropriate vehicles provided by the governorship and district governorships. Furthermore, anyone who bought their own tickets can apply to the application points to receive a refund on their ticket fees.
The earthquake, which took place on 6 February in the eastern province of Elazığ, resulted in the death of 41 people and injured 1,600 others. The authorities are working hard to support the victims and facilitate their return to their homes. With the announcement of these transportation aids, it is hoped that the victims will be able to return to their lives as soon as possible.
