Another Collapse in Güngören: Workplace Flooded by Collapsed Road

The road in Güngören collapsed again yesterday while İSKİ teams were working in the area, just months after a similar incident occurred in November. The collapse happened in the section where İSKİ’s canal cleaning vehicle was stationed, causing the vehicle’s wheel to fall into the pit. The moment of the collapse was captured on security cameras.

Last November, a collapse occurred on the road in Sanayi Mahallesi Atatürk Street while İSKİ teams were working to address a water leak complaint. Repairs were quickly made to the road, but recent heavy rainfall led to clogged sewer pipes in the area. As the water levels rose, residents reported the issue, prompting İSKİ teams to begin working on Atatürk Street again. Unfortunately, during the work, the previously repaired section of the road collapsed once more, causing the canal cleaning vehicle to get stuck in the pit. The street became flooded, and some shops’ basements were filled with sewage water.

Fuat Eser, a local shop owner, expressed his frustration, stating, “The asphalt collapsed last Saturday. We called İSKİ, they came and assessed the situation, but the road collapsed again on Monday. Our workplaces were flooded with chemicals after they tried to fix the issue. We hope for a more permanent solution to prevent these incidents from happening again.” The street has been closed to traffic for repairs and realignment to take place.
