Another Hospital’s License Revoked for ‘Newborn Gang’ Staff
The investigation into the gang that collaborated with employees of the 112 Emergency Call Center in Istanbul continues, following the referral of baby emergency patients to private hospitals by the “Yenidoğan gang” for unfair profits, ultimately resulting in infant deaths. The indictment against the gang, consisting of 47 suspects, including 22 who were detained, led to the suspension of activities at three of the 19 private hospitals involved. One of the hospitals, Private Reyap Hospital, had its license revoked due to its involvement in the scandal.
Additionally, Bağcılar Private Şafak Hospital and Medilife Health Services Hospital have not been operational for months, adding another layer to this troubling situation. The closure of hospitals and the cancellation of licenses raise concerns about the healthcare system’s integrity.
The Social Security Institution (SGK) provided a statement regarding the ongoing investigation, highlighting the rigorous examination being conducted on hospitals implicated in the scandal. SGK emphasized their commitment to auditing hospitals with contracts meticulously, solely focusing on financial matters within the boundaries of the law.
As authorities delve deeper into the “Newborn Gang” investigation, the closure of hospitals and the revocation of licenses shed light on the urgency to address any misconduct within the healthcare system to prevent further tragedies. The pursuit of justice and accountability remains paramount in restoring trust and safeguarding the well-being of patients.
