Antalya Reveals Monument Honoring Kazakh National Instrument Hill
A monument dedicated to the Kazakh national musical instrument, the dombra, was unveiled in Zhambyl Zhabayev Park in Antalya on July 9th to celebrate National Dombra Day. The event was attended by Antalya Province Governor Hulusi Sahin, city officials, representatives of the consular corps, and public figures.
During the opening ceremony, Kazakh Ambassador to Türkiye, Yerkebulan Sapiyev, emphasized the dombra’s significance in Kazakh culture and its importance to the Kazakh people. He mentioned that the decision to erect a monument dedicated to the traditional musical instrument was a way to promote national values.
Sapiyev expressed his gratitude to the Turkish authorities for their support in bringing this project to life and his hope that the monument, the first of its kind outside of Kazakhstan, would foster closer spiritual and cultural ties between the people of Kazakhstan and Türkiye. The monument stands as a symbol of Kazakh identity and serves as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage shared between the two nations.
