AÖA and EUL Budgets Approved by Majority Vote at BRTK

The 2025 Fiscal Year Budget Bill of Atatürk Teacher Academy (AÖA) and the European University of Lefke (EUL) were discussed and approved in the General Assembly of the Republic Assembly.
The budget bill for AÖA, totaling 60 million 632 thousand TL, was accepted by majority vote with 26 votes in favor and 5 votes against. Committee Chairperson, Resimye Eroğlu Canaltay, presented the report on the bill, which was then approved after being discussed item by item.
Next, the budget bill for EUL, amounting to 2 billion 66 million 771 thousand TL, was discussed. Devrim Barçın, CTP Deputy, raised concerns about the social insurance and provident fund investments of EUL employees not being deposited on time. Barçın emphasized the importance of protecting both the employees, public finances, and the university’s budget by ensuring investments are based on the real salary.
Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı defended EUL, stating that the university is debt-free and there are no delays in insurance investments. However, there is a shortage in the academic staff’s reserve fund, which will be covered by the university’s receivables from the state.
After thorough discussion, the budget bill for EUL was approved by a majority vote of 27 accepting and 5 rejecting.
The budget for Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) was then brought up for discussion, continuing the proceedings in the General Assembly.
