Arab Peoples Summit Rejects Trump’s Gaza Plan
The Arab Council, along with various NGOs, recently organized a “Summit of Arab Peoples” under the theme of “Balfour Declaration to Trump Declaration: Palestine is not for sale.” The summit aimed to address the dangers posed by US President Trump’s Gaza plan, which seeks to diminish the presence of Palestine under the guise of reconstruction.
The final statement of the summit emphasized the ongoing conflict in Palestine, highlighting the occupation and displacement of the Palestinian people and reaffirming the right to resist such oppression. Participants called on Arab countries to cease normalization with Israel, show solidarity with Palestinians, and provide material and political support to the Palestinian cause.
The summit attendees adamantly rejected Trump’s plan, denouncing it as a violation of international laws and United Nations resolutions, as well as a threat to global peace and security. They likened Trump’s proposal to the infamous Balfour Declaration, noting its aim to restructure Palestinian territory in favor of the Zionist agenda.
Former Tunisian President Munsif al-Merzuki and Bahrain’s former parliamentary, Cevad Feyruz, called for steadfast support of Palestinian resistance against the unjust US plan. They viewed Trump’s actions as an attempt to forcibly displace Palestinians from their homeland.
Former Moroccan Prime Minister Saadeddin al-Osmani condemned Trump’s statements as an act of ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people. Trump’s explicit intention to “take over” Gaza and relocate Palestinians to neighboring countries such as Egypt and Jordan was met with strong opposition from the summit participants, who viewed it as a blatant disregard for Palestinian rights and sovereignty.
In the face of these challenges, the Arab peoples reiterated their unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause and their determination to resist any attempt to compromise the rights of the Palestinian people. The message was clear: Palestine is not for sale, and the struggle for justice and liberation will continue unabated.
