
Armed Attack in Küçükçekmece: 16 Suspects Arrested

An attack in Küçükçekmece, a district in Istanbul, has resulted in the arrest of multiple suspects. The incident occurred on Saturday, February 10th, during a visit by AK Party Küçükçekmece Mayor candidate Aziz Yeniay to an association in the Kanarya District.
Individuals in a white vehicle opened fire with a long-barreled gun and a pistol, injuring EGD, while also causing damage to surrounding buildings and vehicles. Following the attack, an investigation was launched by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, leading to the detention of 26 suspects, including 4 children who were involved in the crime.
After undergoing police procedures and a health check, the suspects were brought to Küçükçekmece Courthouse. Of the 22 suspects who appeared in court, 13 were recommended for arrest, 4 for judicial control measures, and 5 were released. An additional 17 suspects were referred to the Criminal Court of Peace, with 4 being released and 13 facing serious charges including attempted murder, possession of weapons, and involvement in criminal organization.
As a result of these developments, the total number of detainees related to the attack has increased to 16, including the 3 children who were previously arrested.
The investigation, which involved a team of 150 people analyzing camera footage from the surrounding area, also resulted in the recovery of gun casings and the identification of damaged vehicles and a residence.
This incident has sparked concern and led to swift action by law enforcement in Küçükçekmece. The accused individuals will now face legal proceedings, as the authorities strive to address the aftermath of this violent attack.
