Arsonist Arrested for Setting Police Car Ablaze in Front of His Home
A man named Yaşar Önsesveren was caught by the police in Konya’s Seydişehir district after setting fire to a light commercial vehicle parked in front of the house of police officer Hacı Kenger. The incident occurred at around 03.30 yesterday when a fire broke out in the vehicle with plate number 07 AVA 665, parked in front of the police officer’s house on İbrahim Hakkı Müftü Street. The fire quickly spread to two other cars parked nearby, causing damage.
Neighbors noticed the situation and reported it, prompting the fire brigade and police team to intervene and extinguish the flames. The police launched an investigation and reviewed security camera footage, identifying a person wearing a hat running away from the vehicle with a canister before the fire started. The suspect, Yaşar Önsesveren, was later caught by the police and allegedly confessed to setting fire to the vehicle out of hostility towards the police officer.
Following his procedures at the police station, Önsesveren was arrested by the court and will face legal consequences for his actions. The motive behind the incident was believed to be a personal dispute between the suspect and the police officer. The damaged vehicles were attended to by authorities, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
