Assault on AK Party Election Vehicle and Driver in Balikesir

An argument that took place between two individuals and the driver of an AK Party election minibus in the district center of Erdek, Balıkesir, allegedly turned into a physical altercation. The argument reportedly started because the two individuals were disturbed by the music coming from the election vehicle. The driver of the minibus, Alaattin Koşan, was beaten by the attackers when he got out of the vehicle. The fight came to an end after the intervention of the AK Party women who were inside the vehicle and members of the public. The police department took the two suspects into custody, and the investigation is ongoing. AK Party Balıkesir Provincial Chairman, Ekrem Başaran, condemned the attack and stated that it is an expression of the current state of tension, polarization, and hate speech in the country, which has now spread to society. Başaran called on the CHP Provincial Chairman of Balıkesir to apologize and protect its organization, and urged everyone to stay away from polarizing their people and creating hate speech.
