Assault on Bursa Professor: 2 Relatives Arrested
Head of Cardiovascular Surgery at BUU Faculty of Medicine Allegedly Beaten by Patient’s Relatives
In a shocking incident that took place in Bursa, Turkey, it has been alleged that the Head of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at BUU Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Murat Biçer, was beaten by the relatives of his patient who passed away a year ago, on his way back home. The two suspects were taken into custody by the Bursa Police Department Public Security Branch teams after the incident.
The Provincial Health Director, Dr. Fevzi Yavuzyılmaz, expressed his regret about the attack on Biçer in a written statement. He stated that violence against health and the hands that give health cannot be accepted and it is unacceptable for health professionals who are currently struggling with great sacrifice to be treated undeservedly.
