Assaulting an elderly man on the street
An elderly man was brutally attacked in the middle of the street by a younger individual in Osmaniye. The incident occurred near Mustafa Özden Secondary School in Yunus Emre District, where 75-year-old Mehmet D. was confronted by Ömer Ü. The argument quickly turned violent as Ömer Ü. began kicking and punching Mehmet D., while also hurling insults at him.
The shocking attack was captured on video by Mehmet D. himself, showing the vicious assault taking place. The footage soon made its rounds on social media, prompting outrage from the community.
In response to the incident, Osmaniye Governor Erdinç Yılmaz assured the public that proper actions would be taken to ensure justice is served. He expressed his strong disapproval of the attacker’s actions, stating, “We will do whatever it takes to give this unscrupulous person what he deserves.”
Following an investigation by the Osmaniye Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect was detained for intentional wounding. The Osmaniye Criminal Judgeship of Peace on Duty subsequently issued an arrest warrant for the assailant.
