Astana’s School Boom: Record Number of New Schools Ready to Open

Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, is making significant strides in expanding its educational infrastructure, with more schools being built than ever before. According to Akim (Mayor) of Astana Zhenis Kassymbek, the city is currently constructing over 30 schools to accommodate nearly 100,000 students in two shifts.

As part of the Comfortable School initiative, Samruk Kazyna Construction is overseeing the construction of 24 schools that will cater to 90,000 students in two shifts. Kassymbek emphasized the importance of providing a comfortable learning environment for students and mentioned that during a recent tour with Kazakh First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar, they explored these new schools that are set to open at the beginning of the upcoming school year.

In addition to the ongoing projects, plans are in place to open three more public schools and one private school at the start of the school year. Furthermore, by the end of the year, seven more comfortable schools, including five public and three private institutions, are expected to open. This ambitious agenda means that a total of 23 new schools will be completed during the new school year.

The efforts to expand and enhance the educational infrastructure in Astana demonstrate the city’s commitment to providing quality education and fostering a conducive learning environment for its students. With the development of these new schools, Astana is not only investing in the future of its youth but also laying the foundation for a more prosperous and educated society.
